Automated Detection of the Planetary Boundary Layer Height and Cloud in Qingdao based on Morphological Processing

Clouds have double functions for lidar: noise and useful information. In this study, the clouds were separated from temporal-spatial coherent Doppler wind lidar (CDWL) with a high temporal resolution image based on morphological open filter, which produced filtered cloud image. First, The wavelet covariance transform was employed to retrieve planetary boundary layer height (PBLH) including surface (SLH) mixed (MLH). Then Savitzky-Golay (SG) filter different time-window widths applied temporally multi-scale analysis of PBLH's features,which related temperature humidity. Last, areas estimated specification rain water content (SRWC) in clouds. results show that proposed method is effective stable automatic detection PBLH using only single lidar, verified by data Qingdao China.
